MAGA Isn’t Patriotism — It’s White Supremacy With a Cross and a Flag

The red-hat movement wraps old hate in a new flag and calls it freedom.

White supremacy is America’s oldest disease. It built the country, wrote Jim Crow laws, and ran the country for centuries while pretending to be “civilized.” It sat in the courts, the churches, and the White House. The Civil War didn’t kill it. The Civil Rights Movement didn’t kill it. It just learned how to smile for the camera.

When Obama became president, racists lost their minds. A Black man in the Oval Office was their apocalypse. Overnight, their Facebook pages turned into panic shelters. “Our country’s being taken!” they screamed—because “our country” has always meant “white country.” Even Obama being half-white didn’t matter. In America, one drop of melanin throws you out of the club.

Then came Trump. He didn’t invent racism—he just made it cool again. “Make America Great Again” was code for “Make America White Again.” The “again” said it all. Back to the 1950s, when women stayed quiet, gays stayed hidden, and white men ruled everything like it was their birthright.

Who Shows Up for MAGA?

Go to a MAGA rally. What do you see? A sea of red hats and white faces. Flags everywhere, but not the kind that stand for unity. These folks scream about “real Americans,” meaning anyone who looks like them. They spit bile about immigrants “invading” and Muslims “taking over.” They call Black Lives Matter a “terror group.” Then they turn around and call themselves “patriots.”

Patriotism isn’t skin color. It’s not religion. It’s loyalty to an ideal—the idea that freedom belongs to everyone. But MAGA patriotism is a costume. It waves a flag to cover the hate underneath. They love America as long as it looks like them and prays like them.

And sure, they parade a few token minorities around like shiny proof they’re not racist. But every racist movement in history has done that. The Ku Klux Klan had “friendly Black faces” too—usually paid, threatened, or used for decoration. It’s not diversity. It’s a photo op.

The Border Obsession

Why are they so obsessed with the border? Because brown immigrants make them nervous. “Build the wall!” wasn’t about border control—it was about keeping the wrong skin tone out. When Trump called Mexicans “rapists and criminals,” the crowds roared like it was a gospel sermon.

They love to yell “law and order,” but it’s not about law—it’s about color. Canadians overstay visas all the time. Nobody cares. But God forbid a Honduran family crosses the Rio Grande to escape violence America helped create—suddenly it’s an “invasion.” They want a white picket fence around the country, not because of crime, but because they think whiteness needs protection.
